But that’s not all. The way we work to move Talent is the opposite of most people’s expectations. Our job is not to tempt or persuade. Our role is far more subtle and perhaps explains our success.
Depending on the complexity of the search, new work usually begins on a no win, no fee basis. The balance of risk in the hiring process must be equally shared, and that’s why we have always been so progressive in our billing processes.

WHY SEARCH?
Passive recruitment methods (job boards, social media ads, website career pages) draw from a narrow field – those individuals who are seeking a move. These avenues often yield unfilled, less than happy, and predominantly less ‘sticky’ candidates.
Search has no boundaries and focusses on the most desirable cohort of Talent – those NOT looking for a move. It is here that the search consultant’s skills are required to uncover potentially hidden motivations for joining our client. These are skills honed from many years of broad business and candidate engagement, psychology, diplomacy, and international studies.
We prefer a fairer balance of risk when it comes to fees, rarely asking clients to work on full retainer. Work divides roughly as follows:-

LEGAL EXECUTIVE SEARCH - HEADHUNTING
HOW WE WORK, AND CHARGE
We make no apologies for being obsessive when it comes to discretion. The legal market is one of the most incestuous of business markets. Indeed the fact that everyone knows just about everyone is extremely advantageous in many situations…. it certainly helps to get deals done, and smooth over misunderstandings. However, it carries with it the potential for major embarrassment for a client if their headhunter is indiscreet.
Our intention is always that a target’s client firm will never learn who has made an approach. That information is never divulged to targets without our client’s express consent, and then only at a stage where we are some way along our process.
We have a unique approach, we’re confident, our method is tried and tested. There are no ‘bells or whistles’. Our work is done as it always has been, one professional, speaking discreetly with another, establishing a rapport, and an exploration of our client’s opportunity. This is how we achieve our outstanding results.
CONTINGENCY SEARCH:
Headhunting at all levels of seniority including Lateral hires. We don’t expect new clients to spend money upfront on search fees just on the basis of our reputation or a recommendation. Therefore, all new business is conducted via Contingency Search. We agree the search parameters and conduct the search, the pre agreed fee is payable only on our candidate’s first day.
CONTAINER SEARCH:
For more complex searches, at all levels of seniority, perhaps where there is a crossover in experience required. For Bolt-on’s, and for Team moves. Hybrid fee structuring, a fairer balance than either contingency or pure retainer. This is our most common fee structure. We agree a one-off, upfront fee (the fee level is dictated by the complexity of the search), usually between 20% – 25% of the expected full search fee, and this is deductible from the final search fee upon placement invoice.
NAMED HEADHUNTING:
As the title suggests, where clients ask us to target known individuals, often at competitor firms. Such searches are always undertaken on a Contingency basis initially as no research is required. We make our initial confidential approach. If the target progresses, it is usual for us to be paid a small fee, (in line with a Container fee) in order to cover our time spent in negotiations which, with named targets, can be extensive.
